I have found out that Linkedin and Google Plus is a goldmine for getting traffic. I get way more traffic from those sites than I do FB and Twitter. Crazy!

You mentioned the simplest and easiest way to get free traffic to your site. While I follow all of these, I’ve yet to try out giveaways and contests. I think what works best for me is the relationships I’ve built with fellow bloggers who have become more of friend’s now, and their visits to my blog, along with their comments and thereafter sharing my posts with their friends – gets me most of my traffic. One cannot deny the power of social media, but for that you need to place your posts and share them on the social medias too, and that does take a little bit of time, but it’s surely worth it.
