5 Things You Should Know about Social Bookmarking
Most of us know what bookmarking is, but just in case you need a refresher: no, it is not when you keep a place-holder in the book you are reading. , where it can be easily accessed later on. Social bookmarking is similar in concept, but very different in application. What, exactly, is social bookmarking? If you want to learn more, then read up on these five things you should know about social bookmarking:
Where do you find social bookmarking? There are a number of sites that provide for you a forum for social bookmarking. Try out sites like del.icio.us, Digg, Furl, and Simpy to find one that is right for you.
Who participates in social bookmarking? Anyone can use social bookmarking sites; it is not necessary that you run your own website or blog. All you have to do is like something you see on the web and want to save for later. To make social bookmarking accessible for everyone, social bookmarking sites are free to sign up with and use.
Organization. Social bookmarking is a vast improvement over standard bookmarking when you consider how it allows you to organize your information. When you bookmark sites to your bookmarking folder on your computer, you must add the same site to each subfolder that you also want to include the site in. For example, you may want to bookmark a page about web marketing to your “web development,” “ad ideas,” and “business plan” folders; this means you have to bookmark the same webpage three times. Social bookmarking sites organize your bookmarks by tags, rather than folders. That means you save one webpage only once, then tag it with keywords that you can then use to find the page.
Sharing. Social bookmarking is just that – social. On social bookmarking sites, your bookmarks are public. That means others can find your bookmarks using the keywords you tag your bookmarks with. In addition to finding other, like-minded people, this also allows you to direct those you know to your personal social bookmarking page when you want to share information.
Communities. When you use a social bookmarking site, you are actively engaging in the creation of a new type of community. Social bookmarking communities are linked through common interests, and create new ways of tagging topics so that new community members can find their way to them.
As you can see, social bookmarking is an exciting development that can allow you to communicate with others in new way. Check out some social bookmarking sites today to explore what they can do for you.

My blog is heavily influenced by social bookmarking as 85% of all the traffic to my site comes from Reddit.
Hi Kevin Martin,
Welcome to my blog! Glad to know that your 85% traffic comes from reddit. Would you like to share with us (reddit traffic secrets)?
Thanks for leaving your comment.
I don’t have any “Reddit traffic secrets”. I simply write an article on a certain niche and I share my article in a subreddit that relates to the niche in which I wrote the article about. That’s all. Anybody can do it.
wow! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us about reddit! You are on good way! keep up it.
Thanks for wishing me well. My site isn’t nearly as popular as I’d like it to be, but I work extremely hard on it, so hopefully my hard work will eventually pay off someday. You too have an awesome blog and I wish you well also.
Hi Kevin,
