Simplifying Social Media and Blog Connections

Social Media And Blog ConnectionsIf you’re running a blog on WordPress and you’re having a hard time connecting it to your social media profiles, you’re probably missing a few very basic technological features that are easy to take advantage of. The first way to address this problem – and the most effective – should be taking a look at the many premium WordPress themes out there that have social media features built into them. These come with built-in plug-ins that make it very easy for you to network your profile and your blog together.

Publicize Your Blog

One of the things that makes it seem inordinately complex to network your blog with your social media sites is if you think of it backwards. Remember that what you’re actually trying to do is to get people to go to your blog from your social media profile, not vice versa. If you keep this in mind, some of the ways that you can achieve this goal become very clear.

  • Have a link to your blog on your social media profile
  • Regularly put links to your blog in your posts
  • Only post to your social media profile when you are saying something useful to your readers
  • Use your branding images on your social media profile

This helps you to get people to be less dependent on your social media profile to get information about you or your business. Essentially, that’s what you’re trying to do.

Use Feeds

Some of the uses of social media that can greatly enhance a blog don’t get enough publicity. For instance, there are plug-ins for WordPress that allow you to include feeds directly from some social media sites. As an example of this, the photo sharing site Flickr provides a great way for you to store a huge amount of images for free. Using the right theme with the right plug-in, you can include your Flickr gallery right on your blog. Remember to put a link to your blog on your Flickr profile.

If you use plug-ins right and if you keep in mind that it’s better to have your readers go to your domain, where you have control, than it is to have them dependent on your social media profiles for news about you, you shouldn’t have too much trouble networking your blog and profile together. In fact, it should enable you to get the most out of the WordPress theme that you’re using.
